Welcome and thanks for taking interest in joing the Trust Thy Barber team! Our Story

In 2016 Tommy Printz was working in a men’s haircutting chain and wasn’t satisfied with the environment he found himself in. It was too “clinical” – too focued on prices, timing and retail. He felt like he was being forced to treat his clients like $$$ instead of actual humans, so in 2017 he went out on his own, renting a tiny 8′ x 10′ Sola Salon loft and Trust Thy Barber was born!
Trust Thy Barber was (and is) a vibe! Instead of selling haircuts, Tommy focused on creating an experience. He combined his love of grafitti-style urban decor, electronic music, dad jokes and his passion for barbering while treating each client like a living, breathing human being. The result was a rabid clientele that couldn’t wait to tell their friends about this “hidden gem” they found and always looked forward to their next visit.
Within 12 months his Sola Salon loft was bursting at the seams, so Tommy took a risk and moved to a bigger location in the bustling shopping district of Market Common. 2 barbers quickly became 3, then 4, 5 & 6! By the time the pandemic happened it was already time to expand again.
A photography studio that was right next door became available so the shop moved one more time. Currently, all 9 stations in the Market Common location are occupied and we still have to turn people away! The amount of growth we’ve had in 8 years is proof that our business model works – now we have begun the journey to share our passion, skill and vibe with the masses!
Our success can be boiled down to one simple term that is infused into everything that we do: give-a-shit-edness (GAS). At its core, GAS is just that: giving a shit about your clients, fellow team members and the culture of the shop. Just like a road trip with your friends, if you don’t have any GAS you’re not going to get very far.
Our team members are always encouraged to be themselves – it’s one of the many reasons we love coming to work every day. BUT… filling your tank full of GAS is non-negotiable. Caring about our clients, team members and shop culture is what we’re all about and is the driving force behind our success!
We’re not looking to “turn-and-burn” our clients or our staff – we do things a little differently here. We make every effort to ensure our clients have a top-notch experience every time they come to visit and we put a lot of time, effort and resources into training our staff to set them up for success. When you join the Trust Thy Barber Team you can be sure we’re committed to your development and will do everything we can to help you reach your goals!

If you have:
- a valid South Carolina Cosmetology license
- a valid South Carolina barber license
- a schedule that allows for flexible scheduling including nights and/or weekends
and you can:
- make sure that every client walks away feeling like they just had a great experience
- contribute to a drama-free, fun and ethical shop environment
- work with team members to keep the shop clean and inline with brand standards
- attend regular education events (in-house and online) to increase your skillset
- respect and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and skill levels
